Korea’s first foreign-owned for-profit hospital set to open
Greenland International Hospital in Jeju Healthcare Town

The nation’s first foreign-owned for-profit hospital is projected to open here on the island later this year.

Representatives from the province and the Jeju Free International City Development Center expect construction to wrap up on both Greenland International Hospital and Healing Spiral Hotel in June. Both are in the Healthcare Town in Seogwipo.

The Chinese developer Greenland Group plans to apply for an opening permit in September, and then actually open the hospital by the end of the year.

The Greenland Group gained approval for the project from the Ministry of Health and Welfare in late 2015. Since then, it has been working on the foundation of a for-profit hospital that combines medical care with tourism.

국내 1호 외국계 영리병원으로 추진되는 녹지국제병원이 연내에 개원할 전망입니다.

제주도와 제주국제자유도시개발센터에 따르면 서귀포시 헬스케어타운에 건설되고 있는 녹지국제병원과 힐링스파이럴호텔이 오는 6월 준공할 예정입니다.

이에 따라 사업자인 중국 녹지그룹은 오는 9월쯤 병원 개설 허가를 신청하고
연내에 개원할 것으로 전해지고 있습니다.

녹지그룹은 지난 2015년 말 보건복지부로부터 외국의료기관 설립 사전허가를 받아
의료와 관광을 연계한 영리병원인 외국의료기관 설립을 추진해 왔습니다.
