Korea’s southernmost school remains closed
No new students on Marado Island for second year

For the second year in a row, the nation’s southernmost school - Marado Island Elementary, which is a branch of Gapado Island Elementary, will remain closed.

No student has signed up for classes since February 2016, when its last sixth grader graduated.

One child who was supposed to start there this year ended up moving, which extended the temporary closure of the school by at least one more year.

최남단 마라분교 휴교 1년 연장

국토최남단 마라도의 가파초등학교 마라분교가 올해도 신입생이 없어 휴교에 들어갑니다.

마라분교는 지난해 2월 졸업식을 끝으로 신입생이 없어 졸업식과 동시에 휴교에 들어갔습니다.

하지만 올해 입학 예정할 예정이던 어린이가 이사를 가면서 마라분교의 휴교는 1년 연장됐습니다.
