Poultry from Gyeongnam again banned from Jeju
New case of highly pathogenic bird flu confirmed

The provincial government has reinstated a ban on poultry from the Gyeongnam region of the mainland.

The move comes as researchers discovered another case of a highly pathogenic strain of bird flu in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do.

Officials first instituted a ban on poultry from the region in December after an earlier detection of the virus. It was just lifted on February 21st after no new reports of bird flu.

The province has now banned poultry from seven mainland areas, including Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, Chungcheong-do, Jeolla-do, and now Gyeongnam.

Officials say more areas will be added to that list if researchers confirm cases of bird flu elsewhere in the country.

내일부터 경남지역 가금산물 반입 금지

경상남도 하동군에서 고병원성 조류인플루엔자가 추가 발생하면서 제주도가 내일부터 경남 지역에 대한 가금산물 반입을 금지합니다.

경남지역의 가금산물의 경우 지난해 12월부터 반입을 금지했다가 추가 발생소식이 없자 지난달 21일자로 해제했고 이번에 다시 열흘만에 반입 금지 조치를 내린 것입니다.

이에 따라 가금산물 반입금지 지역은 경기와 강원, 충청남북도, 전라남북도, 경남 등 7개 지역으로 늘어납니다.

제주도는 다른지역에서의 조류인플루엔자 종식 여부를 보면서 추가 반입금지 지역을 조정해 나갈 방침입니다.
