Education office wants students to walk to school
Officials aim to tackle obesity, traffic congestion

The Provincial Office of Education is running a campaign from this month through the end of May encouraging children to walk to school.

Officials say the goal is to reduce the student obesity rate, which is the highest in the nation, and relieve traffic congestion around schools.

They say they are now working on detailed action plans for the campaign. The ideas include banning private vehicles from school areas and producing promotional materials for the initiative.
