Community leaders must resign to work on presidential campaigns
Violators face prison, stiff fines

Community leaders who want to become involved in presidential campaigns must resign from their positions by March 15th.

The nation’s 19th presidential election is scheduled for May.

Leaders above the company commander rank in the homeland reserves also must step down.

This requirement is for anyone who plans to be an election observer or who plans to help in administrative work, accounting, or speechwriting for a specific campaign.

Violators of the rule face up to three years in prison and/or fines of up to six million won.

제19대 대통령 선거가 오는 5월 열릴 예정인 가운데 선거 사무 관계자가 되려는
통.리.반장은 오는 15일까지 사직해야 합니다.

제주특별자치도선거관리위원회에 따르면오는 15일까지 사직해야 하는 대상은
대통령선거와 관련해선거사무장이나 사무원, 회계책임자, 연설원, 투표참관인,
사전투표참관인 등 선거사무관계자가 되려는 주민자치위원과 통.리.반장, 향토예비군 중대장급 이상의 간부 등입니다.

사직기한을 지키지 않을 경우 최고 3년의 징역 또는 600만원의 벌금형에 처해집니다.
