Province envisions national garden in Sumang-ri
170-hectare site near Mulyeongari Oreum

The province plans to develop a national government in Sumang-ri, Namwon-eup.

As a first step, it will spend 200 million won through this November to research the idea of building one on 170 hectares of public land near (물령아리) Mulyeongari Oreum.

Researchers will study the need and feasibility of the project, as well as possible ways to work with the local community.

Provincial officials say they plan to have the 90-billion-won garden complete by 2026. Construction would begin in 2020 after all the necessary financing, feasibility, and other questions are answered and the administrative process is finished.

남원읍 수망리 '국가정원' 조성 추진

제주도가 남원읍 수망리 일대를 국가정원으로 조성하는 사업을 추진합니다.

이에 따라 사업비 2억원을 들여 오는 11월까지 연구용역을 진행할 예정으로 대상지는 남원읍 수망리 물령아리오름 일대의 국공유지 170헥타아릅니다.

이번 연구용역에는 제주국가정원 조성사업의 필요성과 사업 타당성, 지역주민과의 연계 방안 등이 담겨질 예정입니다.

제주도는 정부의 예비타당성 조사와 중앙투융자 심사 각종 행정절차를 거쳐 오는 2020년부터 사업비 900억원을 투입해 2026년쯤 완공한다는 구상입니다.
