More sales nationally

The Jeju housing market is cooling off as the national housing market heats up.

The land ministry says there were about 850 sales on the island last month. That’s 22.9 percent fewer than in February 2016, and 20 percent fewer than the previous month.

Nationally, home transactions were up 7 percent compared to the year before and 8.4 percent compared to the month before.

The ministry says that because of the relatively high prices on the island, more people are adopting a wait-and-see approach, rather than making a purchase.

제주 주택거래 감소, 전국은 증가

전국적으로 주택거래량이 증가한 가운데 제주만 감소세를 보였습니다.

국토교통부에 따르면 지난달 제주지역의 주택매매 거래량은 850 여건으로 지난해 같은기간에 비해 22.9% 줄었습니다.

또 1월에 비해서도 20% 이상 감소했습니다.

지난달 전국 주택매매 거래량이 지난해 같은기간에 비해 7%, 그리고 전달에 비해 8.4% 증가한 것에 비하면 대조적인 것입니다.

이같은 현상에 대해 국토부는 그동안 제주의 집값이 너무 뛰었기 때문에 관망세가 강해진 것으로 분석했습니다.
