Lawmakers pass city planning ordinance

The provincial council has ended its week-long 349th provisional session.

In his closing remarks, council chair (신관홍) Sin Koan-hong highlighted the need for a well-planned strategy to ensure presidential candidates adopt Jeju’s proposals early in their campaigns. He also asked his colleagues to remain firmly opposed to any military use of the new airport.

Finally, Sin said that he expected Jeju Air, which is struggling along with the local tourism industry due to the decline in Chinese travelers, to make what he called “wise decisions” and remain committed to its namesake.

On the last day, lawmakers passed on the third vote a revised city planning ordinance. Of the 36 councilors present, 34 voted in favor.

임시회 폐회…도시계획조례 통과

제349회 제주특별자치도의회 임시회가 일주일간의 회기를 마치고 폐회됐습니다.

폐회식에서 신관홍 의장은 조기대선에 따른 제주공약 채택을 위한 치밀한 전략을 세우고 특히 제2공항의 남부탐색구조부대 연계 추진 불가 입장을 끝까지 관철시켜 줄 것을 당부했습니다.

특히 사드배치로 인한 중국관광객 감소로 관광시장에 타격을 입고 있는 만큼 제주항공은 제주라는 이름을 단 항공사답게 어려운 현실을 공감하고
현명한 판단을 내려 줄 것을 강조했습니다.

또, 이 자리에서는 삼수 끝에 제주도의회 상임회에서 수정 가결된 도시계획조례안이
재석의원 36명 가운데 34명의 찬성으로 통과됐습니다.
