More illegal aliens voluntarily leave island

More illegal aliens are choosing to voluntarily leave the island.

According to the Jeju Immigration Office, 891 non-Koreans who had overstayed in Jeju have already made the choice to leave. This voluntary departure program is in effect from this month through the end of May.

That’s more than ten times the number who left the island during the same period last year, when just 87 departed.

The immigration office plans to work in concert with other agencies to step up its crackdown on employers who hire illegal aliens.

제주출입국관리사무소에 따르면 이달부터 오는 5월까지 한시적으로 불법체류 외국인에 대한 자진출국제도를 시행한 이후 지금까지 891명이 본국으로 돌아가습니다.

지난해 같은기간 87명에 비해 10배 넘은 수치입니다.

출입국관리사무소는 관계기관과 합동으로 외국인 불법고용주에 대한 단속을 강화해 나갈 방침입니다.
