Local authorities announce wide-ranging measures

Local authorities have drawn up plans to help the tourism industry in the wake of China’s ban on group tours to Korea.

As parts of the measures, the province will suspend principal repayments on loans from the Tourism Promotion Fund loans for one year.

It will free up 30 billion won in financial stabilization loans. Borrowers can get up to 500 million won, and businesses like chartered buses and shops that offer tax refunds, which that have borne the brunt of the drop in Chinese tourists, will be given priority for the loans.

The province will also run special a special promotional event over the next month that will tie in with local festivals and the Korea Grand Sale. Admission will be free at 28 public tourist attractions.

Finally, in order to diversify the local tourism market to include more visitors from Japan, Southeast Asia, and other countries, provincial authorities will work on creating more air routes, securing charter service, and attracting cruise ships.

中 관광객 감소 대책 마련…상환유예·특별융자

중국의 한국관광 금지 조치로 도내 관광업계가 어려움을 겪는 가운데 제주도가 이에 대한 특별대책을 마련했습니다.

주요내용을 보면 관광진흥기금 원금 상환을 1년 동안 유예하고, 경영안정자금을
업체당 최고 5억원까지, 총 300억원을 특별융자합니다.

특히 중국관광객 감소로 운영난을 겪고 있는 전세버스업체와 사후면세점에 대해
처음으로 경영안정자금을 지원합니다.

또 다음 한달간 제주여행 초대전을 대대적으로 개최해 도내 축제와 연계한 그랜드세일을 실시하고 28개소의 공영관광지를 무료로 개방합니다.

제주도는 또 일본과 동남아, 신흥시장으로의 다변화를 위해 항공노선 개설과 전세기 확충, 크루즈 유치를 강화합니다.
