Direct Jeju-Kuala Lumpur flight service being considered
66,000 Malaysians visited Jeju last year

We might have soon have direct flight service between Jeju and Malaysia.

Representatives from the provincial government and the Jeju Tourism Organization recently visited AirAsia, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in order to negotiate the start of service.

Airline representatives reportedly showed interest in opening a route, but they asked for assurance on securing slots for their aircraft at the proposed departure and arrival times.

About 66,000 Malaysians visited Jeju last year. The only country that sent more travelers to the island was China.

제주와 말레이시아 콸라룸푸르를 잇는 직항 노선 취항이 추진되고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도와 제주관광공사는 최근 말레이시아 콸라룸푸르의 '에어아시아'를 방문해 제주직항 노선 취항과 관련한 협의를 벌였다고 밝혔습니다.

에어아시아측은 직항노선 운항에 긍정적 입장을 보였지만 출도착 시간대 슬롯확보를 요구하고 있습니다.

지난해 제주를 찾은 말레이시아 관광객은 6만 6천여명으로 중국을 제외하면 제1의 관광시장으로 부상하고 있습니다.
