‘Coast Guard conducted live fire drill in unauthorized location’
Provincial inspection commission releases probe results

The provincial commission of audit and inspection has determined that a Jeju Coast Guard vessel conducted a live fire drill in an unauthorized area.

The commission says the incident happened in June 2015. The captain of the ship ordered the practice and then made false reports of his activities to his seniors.

Inspectors also discovered that the guard had improperly dispatched three officers specially trained for boarding illegal Chinese fishing boats to the site of demonstrations against the construction of the Gangjeong naval base. It issued the guard a warning in that case to properly manage all personnel.

제주해경, 지정구역 위반 함포사격...감사원 적발

제주해경이 함포사격을 하면서 지정된 사격장이 아닌 곳에서 사격을 했던 사실이 감사원 결과 드러났습니다.

감사원은 지난 2015년 6월 제주해양경비안전서 소속 모 함장이 지정구역을 위반해 사격연습을 하고도 관할서장에게 허위보고했다며 관계자에 대한 주의를 요구했습니다.

감사원은 또, 해경이 중국어선 단속 요원으로 채용한 해상특수기동대원 3명을 당초 목적과는 다르게 제주해군기지 반대시위 현장에 지원하도록 했던 것도 지적하며 인력운용을 철저히 하라고 주의조치를 내렸습니다.
