Officials issue warning for pig wasting syndromes
More prevalent at this time of year

Authorities are urging pig farmers to protect their animals from pig wasting syndromes because they become more prevalent with the changing of the seasons.

An outbreak of porcine epidemic diarrhea was recently confirmed in the hog-raising areas of Hallim-eup and Daejeong-eup. The Jeju Veterinary Service Lab responded by warning farmers to enact sufficient measures to prevent similar outbreaks.

Lab officials say that in order to prevent epidemic diarrhea and other wasting syndromes, farmers need to properly control barn temperatures, ventilation, and animal numbers.
