Province forces Majestar Casino to close for one month
Investigators say previous owner failed to report \24.4b in sales

The provincial government will temporarily suspend business operations of the Shilla Hotel’s Majestar Casino for not properly recording tens of billions of won in sales.

The province says that, beginning in 2011, the casino failed to report 24.4 billion won in sales, which means it didn’t pay 2.4 billion won into the Tourism Promotion and Development Fund which it owes. Authorities will therefore close the facility for one month beginning June 6th.

The business recently changed hands. The new owner plans to file a suit over the forced shutdown, saying it’s unfair because the problems happened on the watch of the previous owner.
