‘Peace Forest’ to be complete by end of month
14,000 m2 forest in April 3rd Peace Park

The Jeju April 3rd Peace Park is getting a new forest to commemorate the victims of the April 3rd Incident.

The province has invested one billion won in national government funding to create the 14,000-square meter “Peace Forest.”

It includes a 1.2-kilometer walking trail, a re-creation of a village lost during the April Third Incident, and about 20 species of trees related to the incident, like camellias and silver magnolias.

Provincial officials say the forest will be complete by the end of this month.

4·3평화공원에 '평화의 숲' 조성

제주 4.3 평화공원에 4.3 희생자를 기리기 위한 평화의 숲이 조성됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 국비 10억 원을 들여 4.3 평화공원 내 1만 4천여 제곱미터 부지에 평화의 숲을 조성하고 있습니다.

평화의 숲에는 1.2km 코스의 산책로와 잃어버린 마을 터, 그리고 동백나무와 후박나무 등 4.3 역사와 관련 된 나무 20여 종도 함께 심어질 예정입니다.

제주도는 이달 말까지 평화의 숲 조성사업을 마무리할 계획입니다.
