Residential housing boom slowing in Jeju City
Fewer permits issued for apartments and other multi-unit dwellings

The residential construction boom in Jeju City appears to be slowing down.

Jeju City has issued 820 permits for housing construction so far this year. That is 2.8 percent more than the same period last year, but the number of permits for multi-unit housing buildings fell 8 percent, and those for apartment houses dropped 28 percent.

Officials expect the trend to continue because more new housing units are remaining unsold, there’s been a hike in interest rates, and lawmakers amended a city planning ordinance that puts the brakes on the market.

제주시 지역 주거용 건축허가 증가세가 둔화되고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올들어 지난달까지 주거용 건축허가 건수는 820여 건으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 2.8% 증가했습니다.

특히 다가구 주택 건축허가 건수는 8% 줄어 감소세로 돌아섰고 공동주택은 28% 감소했습니다.

제주시는 미분양 주택 증가와 금리 인상, 도시계획조례 개정 등의 요인으로 주거용 건축허가 건수가 점차 감소할 것으로 전망했습니다.
