Jeju to host Korea’s first official PGA Tour event
78 players in October event

Jeju will host the first official PGA Tour event in Korea.

The provincial government signed an agreement Thursday with representatives from the CJ Group and PGA Tour Asia to host the October event.

The 88-year-old PGA Tour has the longest history of any organizer of major golf tours in the world.

Seventy-eight men from Korea and around the world will play in Jeju, including the top 60 from last year’s FedEx Cup.

Organizers expect the event will draw a gallery of over 50,000 people, and more than 220 media outlets will cover it. Local officials say it therefore will have a far-ranging ripple effect for the island.

PGA TOUR 정규대회는 전 세계 골프투어 가운데 가장 오래된 87년의 역사를 가지고 있으며 제주대회에는 랭킹 상위 60명과 국내 선수 등 78명이 출전하게 됩니다.

제주도는 대회기간에 갤러리 등 5만명 이상이 참여하고 전세계 220여개로 송출되는 만큼 파급효과가 클 것으로 기대하고 있습니다.
