Police have begun investigating a fishery purification project on Gapado Island that is the source of discord among residents.

Investigators have requested all documentation related to the funding over the past three years that was offered through Daejeong-eup.

Some suspect the funding was miscalculated and misused.

The issue has caused so many problems on the islet that Gapado residents have been unable to elect a village leader.

경찰, 가파도 어장정화 사업 의혹 본격 수사

주민들간 심한 갈등을 ��고 있는 가파도에 경찰이 어장 정화 사업과 관련해 대정읍에 최근 3년동안 지원됐던 보조사업비와 관련 자료 제출을 요청하는 등 본격적인 수사에 들어갔습니다.

제주지방경찰청은 보조금 집행과 정산과정에 문제가 있다는 의혹이 제기됨에 따라 자료 제출을 요청했다면서 이를 토대로 수사방향을 경정하겠다고 설명했습니다.

한편 가파도는 이장을 선출하지 못하는 등 마을 주민들끼리 심한 갈등을 겪고 있습니다.
