Typhoon Noru expected to head toward Korean Peninsula
Mid-sized storm now 1,500 km SE of Tokyo

Typhoon Noru is strengthening. The mid-sized storm is southeast of Japan and expected to change course and head toward the Korean Peninsula, so meteorologists are keeping a close eye on it.

It is the fifth major storm of the year. The Korea Meteorological Administration says Noru is about 15-hundred kilometers southeast of Tokyo. It is expected to start tracking west toward Korea around Thursday. The administration will continue monitoring to see if the peninsula will feel any direct effects.

Authorities say there’s nothing to be concerned about yet - the typhoon’s course can fluctuate significantly. They are simply advising people to keep tabs on the situation.
