Jeju City to support ‘apple watermelons’ in Aewol

Jeju City has announced special support for a variety of fruit called the “apple watermelon.”

The city selected Aewol Nonghyup as the recipient of funding designed to boost crops that are good for the local economy.

Jeju City will offer one billion won to 11 farms in the area. They will use the funding to create a total of 2.7 hectares of greenhouses for apple watermelons.

The city has offered this type of support since 2013. It has helped growers of chili peppers in Aewol, strawberries in (한경) Hangyeong, and cherry tomatoes in (고산) Gosan.

제주시가 올해 애플수박을 지역특화 소득작목으로 집중 육성합니다.

제주시는 올해 애월농협을 정예소득작목단지조성사업 대상자로 선정하고,
지역특화 소득작목으로 애플수박을 집중육성할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.

이를 위해 11개 농가 2.7ha에 애플수박 비닐하우스 설치 등 10억 원을 보조지원합니다.

제주시는 2013년부터 애월은 고추, 한경은 딸기, 고산지역은 방울토마토를 특화 소득작목으로 선정해 육성하고 있습니다.
