Operations normalizing at Jeju Coast Guard
Office was penalized for poor response to Sewol ferry disaster

The Jeju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Coast Guard was penalized for its inadequate response to the deadly Sewol Ferry disaster three years ago, but it now has its name back and is moving again toward normalcy.

Workers have rehung the sign for the office.

Attendees at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday passed an amendment to the National Government Organization Act. On Wednesday, the Coast Guard got its former Korean name back and reorganized itself.

Specifically, officials upgraded and combined the offices in charge of investigation and intelligence into one department. The Coast Guard now has six departments and 25 personnel.

The Jeju and Seogwipo Coast Guard Stations’ were also given new Korean names.

해경청 3년만에 부활…내일 직제개편

세월호 참사의 책임을 지고 해체됐던 해경이 3년만에 다시 해양경찰청의 간판을 달고 조직개편을 진행합니다.

제주해양경비안전본부는 오늘(25일) 국무회의에서 의결된 정부 조직법 개정안에 따라 내일(26일)자로 제주해양경찰청이라는 옛 이름을 달고 직제를 개편합니다.

이에 따라 '계' 단위로 축소됐던 수사,정보기능은 신설되는 '정보수사과'로 통합돼
수사와 정보계 등 6개 부서로 개편하고 인원도 기존 9명에서 25명으로 늘어납니다.

제주와 서귀포해양경비안전서 명칭도 각각 제주와 서귀포해양경찰서로 변경됩니다.
