New April Third Incident book published
Contains the stories of 408 people who were locked up without proper trials

A Jeju April Third Incident citizens alliance group has published a new book about the dark period in Jeju’s modern history.

It’s title translates to “We Weren’t Court Martialled During the April Third Incident.” It is the story of 408 people who were summarily convicted of different crimes and locked up in the Incheon Prison. The book describes how they received their convictions, and it includes testimony from the subjects themselves. All information in the book was obtained through those interviews.

The local group says it hopes the publication will help uncover the truth of what happened to the roughly 25-hundred people who were imprisoned without proper trials for their alleged roles in the April Third Incident.

4·3 인천형무소 실태조사 자료집 발간

제주 4.3도민연대가 4.3 당시 인천형무소에 수형됐던 408명을 대상으로 면접을 통해 진행했던 실태조사와 이들의 실제 증언을 모아 담은 '4.3 당시 우리는 군사재판조차 받지 못했다' 자료집을 발간했습니다.

4.3도민연대는 이번 자료집에 대부분 행방불명자로 상태로 수형인 명부에만 등재돼 있는 수형희생자 2천 530명에 대한 진실규명이 이뤄지길 바라는 마음을 담았다고 설명했습니다.
