State Affairs Advisory Council chairman speaks with local officials

The chairman of President Moon Jae-in’s State Affairs Advisory Council recently spoke with high-ranking provincial officials.

Kim Jin-pyo is the architect of the Moon administration’s five-year plan for the nation.

He said local taxes for golf courses were higher than rates in Japan and Southeast Asia. Kim argued that’s why fewer golfers are coming here to play, and so the taxes should be lowered.

He also voiced his support for a casino in Jeju that was open to Koreans. All on the island are currently exclusively for foreign gamblers. In order to prevent gambling problems like those that sprung up at a casino for Koreans on the mainland, Kim argued that, should one open on the island, it should charge an entrance fee of 300,000 won per person.
