Porcine epidemic diarrhea outbreaks hit local farms
35 cases so far this year, 42 in all of 2016

Officials are reporting a string of outbreaks of porcine epidemic diarrhea.

According to the provincial and municipal governments, the condition has been confirmed at seven hog farms in Hallim and Daejeong.

Piglets often die when they contract PED. The government has designated it a level three livestock epidemic disease.

There have been 35 cases this year so far. In all of last year, there were 42.

돼지 사육농가에서 돼지 유행성 설사병이 잇따라 발생하고 있습니다.

제주도와 행정시에 따르면 이달 한달 한림과 대정에 있는 양돈농가 7 곳에서
유행성 설사병이 발생했습니다.

돼지 유행성 설사병은 주로 새끼 돼지가 걸려 폐사하는 질병으로 3종 가축전염병으로 지정돼 있습니다.

지난해 42건에 이어 올해 현재까지 35건이 발생했습니다.
