Water supply restrictions go into effect next week for 11 villages

Water restrictions go into effect next week in the mid-slope region because both groundwater and reservoir levels have dropped considerably.

According to the Jeju Office of Water and Sewerage, the continuous heat wave and drought has pushed groundwater levels down by more than one meter.

Eoseungsang Reservoirs 1 and 2 recently contained 98,000 tons of water, but that supply was forecast to soon fall to 70,000 tons. That’s the point at which restrictions kick in.

Accordingly, the provincial government will begin next week restricting the water supply every other day in 11 villages in Aewol, Hallim and Gujwa.

지하수 수위·저수량 급감…다음주 제한급수

지하수 수위와 저수량이 급감하면서 다음주부터 중산간 마을에 제한급수가 이뤄질 전망입니다.

제주도상하수도본부에 따르면 지속된 폭염과 가뭄으로 생활용수 지하수 관정이 평균 1미터 이상 수위가 낮아졌습니다.

어승생 1,2저수지 저수량은 9만 8천톤으로 조만간 제한급수 기준인 7만 톤 이하로 떨어질 가능성이 높아지고 있습니다.

이에따라 제주도는 다음주부터 애월과 한림 구좌 등 11개 마을에 이틀에 한 번 물을
공급하는 제한급수를 실시할 계획입니다.
