Victims’ relatives, police veterans attend memorial
Representatives from both groups pay respect to April 3rd Incident victims

The Association for the Bereaved Families of the April Third Incident joined the Jeju Police Veterans Association Thursday morning to pay their respects to April Third Incident victims.

Representatives from the provincial government, the provincial council, the office of education, and political parties also took part in the ceremony at the Jeju April Third Peace Park’s cemetery. All told, about 80 people attended.

The head of the bereaved families association, (양윤경) Yang Yoon-kyeong, and the head of the police veterans association, (김영중) Kim Young-jung, said they hoped for complete reconciliation and compensation for the victims.

Both organizations have paid respects together annually since August 2013. That was when they promised to work together towards unconditional reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

4·3유족회-경우회, 4년째 합동참배

4.3유족회와 재향경우회가 오늘(2일) 오전 제주시 충혼묘지와 제주4.3평화공원을 찾아 참배했습니다.

오늘 합동참배에는 두 단체 뿐 아니라 제주도와 제주도의회, 제주도교육청, 각 정당 관계자 등 80여 명이 참여했습니다.

이 자리에서 양윤경 4.3유족회장과 김영중 제주도재향경우회장은 화해와 희생자 배.보상 등 4.3의 완전한 해결을 기원했습니다.

두 단체는 지난 2013년 8월 조건없는 화해와 상생을 약속한 이후 해마다 합동 참배를 이어오고 있습니다.
