Jeju joins Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities
WHO network has over 500 members worldwide

The World Health Organization has accepted Jeju into its Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

According to the network’s website, it is “committed to creating inclusive and accessible urban environments to benefit ageing populations.” It has about 500 member communities in 37 countries. They include Geneva, Switzerland, Washington, D.C. in the U.S., and Brussels, Belgium.

Jeju has become the fifth Korean member community. The others are Seoul, Jeongeup, Busan and Suwon.

제주특별자치도가 WHO 세계보건기구로부터 '고령친화도시 국제네트워크' 회원도시로 가입인증을 받았습니다.

WHO 국제고령친화도시 네트워크란 인구 고령화 문제를 선제적으로 대응하기 위한 단체로 스위스 제네바와 미국 워싱톤 DC, 벨기에 브뤼셀 등 전세계 37개국에서 500여개 도시가 가입돼 있습니다.

우리나라에서는 서울시와 전북 정읍시, 부산시, 경기도 수원에 이어 제주가 다섯번째입니다.
