‘Off-season training earns Jeju City \72.4b’
City had hosted 37,000 athletes through the end of July

Local officials say athletes coming to Jeju City for off-season training had added 72.4 billion won to the local economy through the end of last month.

Municipal officials say the city had hosted about 37,000 competitors on 25-hundred teams through the end of July.

The majority of them were taekwondo athletes. 1,100 teams had come to the city, bringing with them 21,000 athletes - 57 percent of the total. Next most numerous were the 48-hundred soccer players and then the 36-hundred baseball players.

The city has formed a promotion team made up of representatives from the private and public sectors to attract even more off-season athletes in the second half of the year.

제주시가 올들어 지난달까지 전지훈련팀을 유치해 724억원의 경제파급 효과를 거둔 것으로 분석된 가운데 태권도 훈련팀이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올들어 지난달까지 유치한 전지훈련팀은 2천500여개 팀에 3만7천여 명으로 724억원의 지역경제 파급효과를 거뒀습니다.

종목별로는 태권도가 1천100여 개팀 2만1천여 명, 57%로 가장 많았고 다음이 축구 4천800여 명, 야구 3천600여명 순입니다.

제주시는 하반기에 민관협력 합동홍보단을 구성해 타시도 체육회 등을 대상으로 전지훈련팀 유치를 위한 홍보를 강화할 계획입니다.
