Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival begins
Musicians from 22 countries performing through August 16

The 22nd Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival began Tuesday at the Jeju Seaside Concert Hall and other venues.

The theme of this year’s event is “Island, the Resonance of Wind.” 76 groups from 22 countries are participating.

The opening ceremony was at the Seogwipo Arts Center. A piece based on “Seouje Sori” entitled “Jeju Memoir” was performed for the first time.

The festival, which runs through August 16th, will also include performances commemorating UNESCO’s designation of Jeju’s haenyeo as Intangible Cultural Heritage, the 12th Jeju International Brass Competition, and Youth Brass Day.

개막식은 8일 서귀포예술의 전당에서 열리며 '서우제소리'를 기반으로 한 관악곡 '제주의 추억'이 처음 소개됩니다.

이와함께 행사기간 제12회 제주국제관악콩쿠르와 청소년 관악의 날, 제주해녀문화의 유네스코 세계무형문화유산 등재를 기념하는 공연 등이
다채롭게 펼쳐집니다.
