제주-인천 항로 운항 중단 장기화

지난 2014년 4월 세월호 참사로 끊긴
제주-인천 간 항로의 여객선 운항 중단이 장기화되고 있습니다.

인천지방해양수산청은
지난해 11월 제주-인천 항로 여객 운송사업자를 공모했지만
유일하게 제안서를 제출한 업체가 기준 미달로 탈락했다고 밝혔습니다.

현재 중고선박 시장에
선령 10년 미만의 배가 나오지 않고 있는데다,
선박을 새로 건조하는데도 시간이 필요해
당분간 제주-인천 항로 재개는 쉽지 않을 전망입니다.

인천해수청은
사업수행 능력과 운항 안전성을 갖춘 사업자가 나서면
공모를 통해 여객선 운항을 재개할 방침입니다.

Jeju - Incheon ferry suspension prolonged
No qualified operators given as reason

Ever since the Sewol Ferry Disaster in April 2014, there has been a continued ban on passenger ferries operating between Jeju and Incheon.

The Incheon Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries said that they looked for passenger transport service operators to run the route back in November. They were unable to find one, however, as the only applicant did not meet the required standards.

It will likely take some time for the route to resume as there are no boats less than 10 years old on the used market, and it takes some time to build new ships.

The organization will only resume passenger operations for the route when they have found an operator which can run the business with efficiency, stability, and safety.
