Yellow corvina season begins
110 boats fishing waters around Marado

The closed season on yellow corvina has ended, so fishermen are heading out south of the island near Marado to begin hauling them in.

According to Jeju City, about 110 vessels using drift gill nets began fishing the area August 10th.

That’s 43 percent more boats than in 2013, when only about 70 headed out.

City officials say they will strengthen their oversight of the vessels to minimize and accidents by ensuring they follow safety guidelines.

참조기 금어기 종료, 조업 재개

참조기 금어기가 끝나면서 마라도 남쪽 해상을 중심으로 참조기 조업이 시작됐습니다.

제주시에 따르면 근해유자망 어선 110여 척이 지난 10일부터 마라도 남쪽 해상을 중심으로 참조기 조업에 나섰습니다.

특히 지난 2013년 70여척이었던 근해유자망 어선은 현재 110척으로 43% 증가했습니다.

제주시는 이에따라 해양사고 예방과 안전조업 지도를 강화하고 어선 안전관리에 행정력을 집중해 나갈 계획입니다.
