App will display prices for daily necessities at large retailers

The province is developing a mobile application to compare prices at large retailers.

The app will offer price information for daily necessities, a list of stores with quote/unquote “reasonable” prices, and other information.

Officials say they expect the app will create competition and eventually help lower and stabilize prices.

The province began in 1997 listing on its website the prices for 30 items at nine major retailers.
