\100,000 fine for drivers who use public transport lanes
Only buses, emergency vehicles, taxis permitted

In our final bit of transportation-related news today, drivers who violate lanes set aside exclusively for public transport will be fined 100,000 won.

According to guidelines released by the province, the fines apply to all of the new lanes, including those on the right-hand side of the road and those along the median strip.

The only vehicles that are allowed in the lanes are emergency vehicles, large buses with more than 35 seats, public buses, chartered buses with more than 15 seats, taxis, and police-certified school and academy buses.

Provincial officials say police will only start issuing the fines next year, after drivers have been given enough time to adapt to the new rules.

대중교통우선차로제 위반하면 과태료 10만원

대중교통우선차로제를 위반할 경우 10만원의 과태료가 부과됩니다.

제주특별자치도는 최근 '제주형 대중교통우선차로 운영지침'을 고시했습니다.

운영지침에는 중앙차로제와 가로변 대중교통 우선차로제 운영방식을 명문화했습니다.

또 우선차로제 통행 가능 차량으로 긴급차동차와 36인승 인상 대형버스, 노선버스,
16인승 인상 전세버스, 택시, 경찰서장의 신고필증을 받은 어린이통학버스, 지방경찰청이 지정한 차량으로 명시습니다.

또 대중교통우선차로를 위반할 경우 10만원의 과태료를 부과하는 내용도 포함했습니다.

제주도는 과태료 부과의 경우 홍보와 계도기간을 거쳐 내년부터 적용하기로 했습니다.
