Water restrictions lifted in mid-slope areas
Villages supplied only every other day for 36 days

The provincial government on Monday lifted water supply restrictions for villages on the mid-slope of Hallasan Mountain.

That ended a 36-day stretch during which the areas got water only every other day.

Officials say they wanted to eliminate the burden felt by the people who live there, so they came up with a plan to better supply the communities.

The government will allow the villages to use an additional 14-hundred tons of water daily from the (어승생) Eoseungsang Reservoir, and it will boost their daily supply of water for agricultural use by 2,000 tons.

The province will further open up the supply for the communities according to weather conditions. It is also considering developing more sources of water through the year 2019, with the aim of boosting groundwater supplies by 5,000 tons daily.

중산간 마을의 제한 급수가 36일만에 해제됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는 장기간 이어지는 제한급수로 주민들의 불편이 커지는 만큼
다른 용도의 지하수 활용 등 급수대책을 마련하고 오늘자로 해제하기로 했습니다.

이를 위해 어승생 급수구역의 조사관측공에서 하루 1천 400톤, 농업용수 2천톤 등을 공급하기로 하고 이에 따른 긴급공사를 모두 마무리했습니다.

제주도는 격일제 급수 해제 이후 기상상황에 맞게 용수공급체계를 탄력적으로 운영하며 오는 2019년까지 지하수 5천톤을 추가 개발하는 방안을 검토하기로 했습니다.
