40 animals on the block

Jeju-bred racehorses will be auctioned off beginning at 1 p.m. next Tuesday at the Korean Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s auction house in Gyorae-ri, Jocheon-eup.

40 animals with official pedigrees as Jeju horses from the Jeju Provincial Livestock Institute will be on the block. All are between the ages of two and three.

Anyone may participate in the auction by submitting a prepayment and a purchase application by noon next Tuesday.

Last year, 16 of the 35 horses that were put up for auction were sold. The highest price paid for one was 85 million won.

'제주마' 공개경매 19일 열려…40마리 상장

'제주마'에 대한 공개경마가 오는 19일 오후 1시 조천읍 교래리 한국경주마생산자협회 경매장에서 열립니다.

이번 경매에는 축산진흥원에 제주마로 등록된 2~3살 경주마 40마리가 상장됩니다.

경매에 참여를 희망하는 경우 선납금과 구매신청서를 경매 당일 낮 12시까지 제출하면 됩니다.

지난해에는 제주마 35마리가 경매에 나와 16마리가 낙찰됐으며 최고가는 8천 500만 원을 기록했습니다.
