Jeju Election Commission cracks down on Election Law violations
Targeting anyone attempting to illegally garner support over holidays

The Jeju Election Commission is on the lookout for Election Law violations in the runup to the Chuseok holidays.

Violations include providing money or food at events or gatherings of constituents, giving out presents at senior citizens centers, and putting up banners seeking support that are disguised as holiday greetings.

Politicians and those planning to run are, however, allowed to send out greetings via SMS, Twitter, Facebook, Kakaotalk, and other social networking services.

The commission is urging residents to report violations on its nationwide hotline, which can be reached by dialing 1-3-9-0.

道선관위, 추석 앞두고 선거법위반 단속

제주특별자치도선거관리위원회가 추석 명절을 앞두고 선거법위반행위를 집중 단속합니다.

주요단속내용을 보면 선거구민의 행사나 모임에 금품이나 음식을 제공하는 행위,
경로당에 인사명목으로 선물을 제공하는 행위, 명절인사를 빙자해 지지를 호소하는 내용이 담긴 현수막 게시행위 등입니다.

다만 의례적인 인사말을 문자메시지나 트위터, 페이스북, 카카오톡 등 SNS로 전송하는 행위는 단속대상에서 제외됩니다.

선관위는 위반사례를 발견할 경우 전국 어디서나 1390번으로 신고해 줄 것을 당부했습니다.
