Bus ridership up 7% after system changes
Nearly 150,000 passengers daily

More people are riding the island’s public buses after a major makeover of the system a month ago.

According to data released by the provincial government, an average of 148,000 people rode local buses daily in the three weeks after August 26th.

That means ridership has grown about seven percent over the same period last year.

Blue buses were the most used - 78.4 percent of all riders were on them. Next most popular were green lines, followed by express routes.

The province says it will continue monitoring the situation in order to gradually improve the system for riders.

대중교통 개편 이후 버스 이용객 7% 증가

대중교통체계가 개편된 지 한달이 지난 가운데 버스 이용객이 늘어난 것으로 조사됐습니다.

제주도가 발표한 교통 빅데이터에 따르면 대중교통체계가 개편된 지난달 26일부터 3주 동안 하루 평균 모두 14만 8천여 명이 버스를 이용한 것으로 나타났습니다.

이는 지난해 같은기간 13만 9천 여명에 비해 7% 가량 증가한 것입니다.

특히 노선 유형별로는 간선버스 이용 승객이 78.4%로 대부분이었고,
이어서 지선과 급행버스 순으로 집계됐습니다.

제주도는 지속적인 모니터링을 통해 대중교통 이용객들의 불편을 점차 해소해 나가겠다는 계획입니다.
