Korean Air says threatened pilot strike won’t affect travelers

Korean Air says all passenger flights will go ahead as scheduled despite a pledge by pilots to go on strike.

The airline says all available pilots will be on the job from October first through the seventh.

The airline is designated as an essential public service, so all pilots can not strike at the same time without risking jail time. The carrier must be able to operate at least 80 percent of its international flights and 70 percent of its Jeju flights.

The airline says it will keep passenger flights as scheduled, but that there will be some disruptions to cargo service to America, Europe, and China.

대한항공, "추석연휴 전편 정상 운항"

대한항공이 조종사노조 파업 예고기간에도 여객기를 전편 정상운항 하겠다고 밝혔습니다.

대한항공측은 조종사 노조가 실제 파업을 실행하더라도 다음달 1일부터 7일까지 가용 인원을 동원해 여객기 전편을 정상 운항할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.

항공산업은 필수공익 사업장으로 국제선 80%, 제주노선 70% 이상을 운항할 수 있는 필수 인력을 의무적으로 남겨야 합니다.

반면 이 기간 미주와 유럽, 중국 등 화물편 운항은 일부 감편할 예정입니다.
