Property owners near airport demand more money

The Korea Airports Corporation plans to expand Jeju International Airport infrastructure, but property owners near the facility say they aren’t being offered enough money for their buildings and land.

At a Thursday meeting at the provincial office, the property owners demanded more compensation from the corporation.

Some demonstrated outside the meeting with pickets.

The corporation plans to buy 146 plots near the airport. It has set aside 37 billion won for that 107,000 square meters of land.

제주공항 인프라 확충 개발을 위해 수용되는 주변 토지와 건물에 대한 보상협의가 난항을 겪고 있습니다.

오늘(12일) 제주도청에서 열린 제주공항 단기 인프라 확충 보상 협의에서 주민들은 보상가가 시세에 턱없이 낮다며 현실적인 보상을 요구했습니다.

특히 일부 주민들은 공항 개발 자체를 반대하는 피켓을 들며 회의장 앞에서 항의하기도 했습니다.

공항 확충에 수용되는 주변 토지는 제주시 다호마을을 비롯한 146필지, 10만 7천여 제곱미터로 사업시행자인 한국공항공사는 보상가로 370억원을 책정했습니다.
