Advisory committee begins work on environmental preservation fund
20 experts to make official recommendations on plan by end of 2018

An advisory committee met Friday at the provincial office to work out the details of a planned environmental preservation fund that polluters will have to pay into.

The group is made up of 20 experts from the government, civic organizations, and the tourism sector. The committee will discuss ideas for the fund, seek opinions on how to proceed, and then make recommendations by the end of next year.

A working group first proposed this policy in January. Researchers have already launched a feasibility study to determine who will pay into the fund, how much they will contribute, and how the province will collect the contributions.

환경보전기여금 논의 본격…자문위 구성

제주도가 원인자 부담 형태의 환경보전기여금 도입을 추진하는 가운데 오늘(13일) 제주도청 탐라홀에서 전문가 자문회의가 열렸습니다.

행정과 학계, 시민단체 그리고 관광 분야에서 위촉된자문위원 20명은 내년 말까지 활동 하면서 환경보전기여금 도입에 대한 의견을 수렴하고 운영방향 등을 조언 하게 됩니다.

환경보전기여금 제도는 지난 1월 워킹그룹에서 권고한 것으로 현재 부과금액과 대상 그리고 징수방법 등에 대한 타당성 용역이 진행 중입니다.
