Cultural Heritage Administration earmarks national funding

The Cultural Heritage Administration has set aside one billion won to combat and prevent pine wilt disease on Hallasan Mountain.

One of Jeju’s representatives at the National Assembly, Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee member Oh Young-hoon, announced the support.

He said the disease has spread from an elevation of 700 meters to 900 meters on the mountain. Oh therefore said he would work next year to get more national funding to stop the outbreak.

한라산 소나무재선충병 긴급 방제 예산으로 국비 10억원이 확보됐습니다.

국회 교육문화체육관광위원회 오영훈 국회의원은 문화재청이 한라산 소나무재선충 조기 방제를 위해 10억원을 긴급 지원하기로 결정했다고 밝혔습니다.

오 의원은 현재 한라산 해발 7백에서 9백미터 까지 소나무재선충병이 확산됐다며 조기 진압을 위해 내년 방제예산 확보에도 노력하겠다고 강조했습니다.
