Park Hong-bae is the new CEO of the Jeju Tourism Organization.

The provincial council’s tourism committee confirmed Park in a hearing on Friday.

Some committee members questioned his lack of expertise in the tourism sector, but those reservations weren’t enough to derail his appointment.

The provincial government officially appointed Park to the position immediately following the hearing. The top post at the JTO had remained vacant for a considerable period.

제주도의회 문화관광스포츠위원회는 오늘(13일) 도의회에서 박홍배 관광공사 사장 내정자에 대한 인사청문회를 진행했습니다.

관광 분야 전문성이 부족해 자질 논란이 불거졌지만 위원회는 박 내정자 인사청문보고서를 적격으로 채택했습니다.

제주도는 그동안 관광공사 사장이 장기간 공석이었던 만큼 조기 안정을 위해 인상청문 결과가 나오자 곧바로 박 내정자를 관광공사 사장으로 임명했습니다.
