20% of foreign visitors to Korea come to Jeju
Island is country’s second most popular destination

Twenty percent of Korea’s foreign visitors include Jeju on their itinerary.

That figure comes from National Assembly member Jo Seung-rae, who sits on the tourism committee. Jeju is the country’s second most popular destination for overseas travelers. Seoul is the first - 78 percent of visitors stop in the capital.

Jeju has welcomed more non-Koreans yearly since 2012. Analysts credit the island’s population as a cruise destination and its visa-free policy for the increase.

외국인 관광객 10명 중 2명 제주 방문

한국을 찾은 외국인관광객 10명 가운데 2명은 제주를 방문한 것으로 조사됐습니다.

국회 교육문화체육관광위원회 조승래 의원에 따르면 지난해 한국을 찾은 외국인 관광객 가운데 20.2%가 제주를 방문했습니다.

제주는 78%를 기록한 서울에 이어 전국에서 두번째로 높았습니다.

제주를 찾는 외국인 방문 비율은 지난 2012년 이후 매년 증가하고 있으며 크루즈 관광과 무사증 제도 등이 증가 원인으로 꼽혔습니다.
