‘Let’s debate issues related to island’s second airport’
Province makes suggestion to opponents of planned facility

Briefings on the construction of the island’s second airport have repeatedly fallen apart, so the province has suggested that a third party lead a debate on the matter.

Local officials say they delivered that recommendation to the Seongsan-eup committee that represents opponents of the airport. They suggested that an equal number of people from both sides of the issue take part in the panel.

The committee says it will respond to the suggestion by the end of the week at the earliest.

제주특별자치도는 최근 이같은 내용을 성산읍반대대책위원회에 전달했다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 제주도가 아닌 사회협약위원회 같은 제3의 기관에 의해 토론회를 개최하고국토부와 반대측이 동수로 참석하는 방안을 제안했습니다.

반대대책위원회는 빠르면 금주중에 이에 대한 공식입장을 발표할 예정으로 알려지고 있습니다.
