Province widens scope of stench management
Inspectors will now concentrate on areas, not particular hog farms

The provincial government has decided to expand its stench management scope after reports by KCTV on the foul odors produced by hog farms.

Local officials had focused on reducing the odors of particular farms. They have now adjusted their focus to areas with a large concentration of farms.

The first such community they will inspect is Geumak-ri, Hallim-eup.

The provincial government will complete the administrative process to designate stench management areas by the end of the year.

양돈장 악취관리지역 '구역단위'로 확대

양돈장 실태조사 결과 악취가 심각하다는 KCTV 보도와 관련해 제주도가 악취관리지역 대상 범위를 확대하기로 했습니다.

이에 따라 종전 악취 기준치를 초과한 개별농가에 대한 관리에서 양돈장 밀집지역 등 구역단위 중심으로 개선합니다.

특히 농가 중심으로 측정하려던 악취 조사 계획을 변경해 양돈장 밀집지역을 변경하고 한림읍 금악리부터 조사를 시작합니다.

제주도는 오는 12월까지 악취관리지역 지정을 위한 행정절차를 추진할 계획입니다.
