31% more leasing companies in Jeju City
New tax laws prompt changes

Jeju City has a growing number of property owners who are registering as leasing companies.

At the end of the third quarter this year, there were nearly 17-hundred such firms in the city - 31 percent more than at the same point last year. The number of units they control had grown 9.5 percent over the same period to 14,500.

City officials say the increase is because of legal changes. The owners of multi-unit properties must pay considerably more in taxes now, but if they register as leasing companies, they can avoid those payments.

제주시지역 민간 주택임대사업자가 증가세를 보이고 있습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올해 3분기까지 등록된 주택임대사업자는 1천690여 업체에 1만4천500여 호에 이르고 있습니다.

이는 지난해 같은 기간보다 사업자는 31%, 호수는 9.5% 증가한 겁니다.

제주시는 정부의 8.2부동산대책에 따라 다주택자들이 양도세 중과세를 피하기 위해 임대사업자로 등록하며 사업자가 증가한 것으로 보고 있습니다.
