‘Trips to SE Asia, Japan cost twice as much as Jeju for Koreans’
Researchers surveyed 3,200 travelers

According to a new survey, Koreans pay much more to travel to Southeast Asia or Japan rather than Jeju.

Sejong University and travel research provider Consumer Insight surveyed the per-person travel costs for 3,200 domestic and international travelers. The study was done between January and September this year.

Researchers found that trips overseas cost over twice as much as trips to Jeju. Travelers to Southeast Asia and Japan were spending an average of 930,000 won for a three-night trip. Those coming to Jeju were paying just 420,000 won.

Travel to other areas in Korea was even cheaper - people were paying just one third of the cost to go overseas.

동남아시아와 일본 여행이 제주도 여행보다 비싸다는 조사결과가 나왔습니다.

세종대와 여행전문 리서치 컨슈머인사이트가 올해 1월부터 9월까지 국내와 해외 여행자 3천2백 여명을 대상으로 1인당 여행 비용을 조사한 결과, 1일 평균 해외여행 비용이 제주도 여행비용에 2배정도 많은 것으로 나타났습니다.

3박 4일 일정을 기준으로 동남아시아와 일본여행의 1인당 평균 비용은
93만여 원인 반면 제주도는 42만여 원보다 절반수준에 머물렀습니다.

또한 국내 다른 지역 여행비용도 해외 여행보다 3배정도 낮은 것으로 조사됐습니다.
