Foreign workers begin arriving for seasonal farm work
23 people hired for jobs at 13 citrus groves

Foreign workers are starting to arrive in Jeju to help with the mandarin orange harvest.

A new system is in place that allows for the seasonal workers from abroad. Jeju City says one person from Vietnam already arrived on the island October 27th for farmwork.

The city has selected 23 seasonal foreign workers for jobs at 13 area fruit groves. They will arrive over the next two months after officials discuss the details of their work with their local employers.

Each person from abroad will be allowed to stay and work here for 90 days.

외국인 계절근로자 도입, 농가 배치 본격

본격적인 감귤수확철을 맞아 외국인 계절근로자 도입이 본격화됩니다.

제주시는 지난달 27일 외국인 계절근로자 제도를 활용해 베트남 국적의 계절근로자 1명을 입국시켜 농가에 배치했다고 밝혔습니다.

이어 외국인 계절근로자로 선정된 23명에 대해 13개 참여 농가와 입국일정 협의를 벌여 이달과 다음달에 순차적으로 입국시켜 농가에 배치해 나갈 계획입니다

이들 외국인 계절근로자의 국내 거주기간은 90일 입니다.
