Olympic torch comes to Jeju
160 bear it around island over two days

The torch for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics arrived in Korea for the first time in 30 years Wednesday, and was brought to Jeju Thursday.

Torch bearers began carrying the flame from the airport. 12 people held it the first day. Around 6 p.m. Thursday it was brought to Tapdong Seaside Concert Hall for some cultural performances.

160 people carried it by the time its circuit of the island was complete on Friday.

평창 올림픽 성화 제주도 봉송 시작

30년 만에 어제(1일) 우리나라에 도착한 평창 동계올림픽 성화가 오늘(2일) 제주에서 전국 대장정 봉송길에 올랐습니다.

내년 평창 동계올림픽 성공 개최의 염원을 담은 이번 성화는 오늘(2일) 낮 제주공항을 출발해 내일까지 이틀동안 160여 명의 주자가 제주전역을 돌게 됩니다.

봉송 첫날인 오늘(2일)은 12명의 주자를 거쳐 오늘 오후 6시쯤 제주시 탑동해변공원으로 옮겨진 뒤 제주 전통과 현대 문화가 어우러진 문화공연이 펼쳐지는 등 환영행사가 진행됩니다.
