Governor says critics misinterpreted his statements about 2nd airport plan

Governor Won Heeryong is defending his statement that the national government has ordered the creation of a basic plan for the island’s second airport.

During a Friday press conference from the provincial office, the governor said civic groups had misinterpreted his comments and that he would never lie about the matter.

He said the truth of what he said will be revealed.

At a Seogwipo forum last month, the governor said that the land ministry planned to order a basic plan for the facility in November. Critics have claimed that was untrue.

원희룡 도지사가 제2공항 기본계획을 발주하기로 했다는 발언은 거짓 발언이 아님을 강조했습니다.

원 지사는 오늘(3일) 도청 기자실을 찾아 제2공항 기본계획 발주 발언이 허위라는 시민단체 주장에 대해 자신의 발언을 너무 심각하게 받아들였다며 자신은 이와 관련해 거짓말을 하지 않는다고 말했습니다.

그러면서 시간이 지나면 저절로 밝혀질 일이라고 덧붙혔습니다.

원 지사는 지난달 서귀포시 포럼에서 국토부가 이달 중으로 기본계획 용역을 발주할 방침이라고 말했고 시민단체는 허위사실이라며 비판했습니다.
